Gate valve

What is a Gate Valve?

A gate valve is a type of industrial valve designed for full open or full close operation. It is widely used to control fluid flow in pipelines where minimal pressure drop is required. The gate (wedge or parallel disc) moves perpendicular to the flow direction, providing a straight-through flow path when fully open.

Gate valves are commonly used in oil & gas, water treatment, power plants, and chemical industries. They are not recommended for throttling applications as partial opening can cause vibration, noise, and seat damage.

Key Features of Lianggu Gate Valves

  • Full Bore Design: Minimal pressure drop when fully open
  • Bi-Directional Sealing: Reliable shut-off in both flow directions
  • Flexible Wedge: Compensates for seat distortion and thermal expansion
  • Rising & Non-Rising Stem: Options for above-ground and buried applications
  • Multiple Standards: GB, API, ASME, DIN, JIS, and Russian GOST
  • Wide Material Range: Carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron
  • Actuation Options: Manual, electric, pneumatic, bevel gear, hydraulic

Gate Valve FAQ

What projects is Gate Valve suitable for?

Gate Valve is built for reliable full-open/full-close pipeline isolation and commonly used in petrochemical, power, municipal water, steam and high-pressure main lines. If you are not sure about the model, send us the working condition first.

What happens if the wrong gate valve is selected?

The common risk is infrequent operation with high sealing and low pressure-drop requirements. Valve selection is not only about size and price; medium, pressure, temperature and standards must be reviewed together.

What information is needed to quote gate valve?

Please provide size, pressure class, material, connection, medium, temperature, quantity, operation method, standard and certificate/testing requirements.

Can gate valve be customized?

Yes. Non-standard size, special material, sealing structure, connection, actuator, inspection documents and packing requirements can be discussed by project.

How is gate valve tested before shipment?

According to standards and order requirements, shell pressure, seat sealing, appearance, dimensions and documents can be checked. ITP, NDT, material and calibration documents can also be supported.

Can project documents be provided for gate valve?

Yes. Drawings, quality plan, ITP, material certificates, inspection reports, pressure test records, NDT/calibration/certificates can be prepared according to order requirements.

What is the delivery time for gate valve?

Regular stocked models can be arranged faster. Non-standard, special material, high-pressure or batch orders depend on technical confirmation and production schedule.

Why do prices vary so much for the same gate valve?

Differences usually come from material, pressure class, sealing structure, standard, testing requirements, actuator and document package. Technical conditions should be aligned before quotation.

What is often ignored when buying gate valve?

The most ignored part is site condition. Is the medium corrosive? Does temperature fluctuate? Is operation frequent? Is third-party inspection required? All these affect selection.

What if I only know the working condition, not the model?

No problem. Send medium, pressure, temperature, size, connection standard and quantity. We can first check whether Gate Valve is suitable.
