Check valve

What is a Check Valve?

A check valve (also called non-return valve) is an automatically operated valve that allows fluid to flow through it in only one direction. It opens when the inlet pressure exceeds the outlet pressure, and closes when the flow reverses.

Check valves are essential for preventing backflow, protecting pumps, compressors, and other equipment from damage caused by reverse flow. They are widely used in pumping systems, power plants, oil & gas pipelines, and chemical processing.

Check Valve Types — Swing vs Lift vs Ball

Swing Check Valve

Disc swings on a hinge pin. Low pressure drop, suitable for low-velocity, large-diameter applications.

  • Size: DN50 - DN2000
  • Pressure: 150LB - 2500LB
  • Low pressure drop
  • For water, oil, gas

Lift Check Valve

Disc lifts vertically along the stem. Better sealing, suitable for high-pressure, high-velocity service.

  • Size: DN15 - DN600
  • Pressure: 150LB - 2500LB
  • Better sealing
  • For high pressure

Ball Type Check Valve

Ball-shaped closing member. Simple design, suitable for clean fluids and moderate pressures.

  • Size: DN15 - DN300
  • Pressure: 150LB - 600LB
  • Simple, compact
  • For clean fluids

Check Valve FAQ

What projects is Check Valve suitable for?

Check Valve is prevents backflow automatically and protects pumps, compressors and pipelines and commonly used in pump discharge, compressor outlet, water systems and backflow prevention. If you are not sure about the model, send us the working condition first.

What happens if the wrong check valve is selected?

The common risk is backflow, water hammer and disc impact can affect system stability. Valve selection is not only about size and price; medium, pressure, temperature and standards must be reviewed together.

What information is needed to quote check valve?

Please provide size, pressure class, material, connection, medium, temperature, quantity, operation method, standard and certificate/testing requirements.

Can check valve be customized?

Yes. Non-standard size, special material, sealing structure, connection, actuator, inspection documents and packing requirements can be discussed by project.

How is check valve tested before shipment?

According to standards and order requirements, shell pressure, seat sealing, appearance, dimensions and documents can be checked. ITP, NDT, material and calibration documents can also be supported.

Can project documents be provided for check valve?

Yes. Drawings, quality plan, ITP, material certificates, inspection reports, pressure test records, NDT/calibration/certificates can be prepared according to order requirements.

What is the delivery time for check valve?

Regular stocked models can be arranged faster. Non-standard, special material, high-pressure or batch orders depend on technical confirmation and production schedule.

Why do prices vary so much for the same check valve?

Differences usually come from material, pressure class, sealing structure, standard, testing requirements, actuator and document package. Technical conditions should be aligned before quotation.

What is often ignored when buying check valve?

The most ignored part is site condition. Is the medium corrosive? Does temperature fluctuate? Is operation frequent? Is third-party inspection required? All these affect selection.

What if I only know the working condition, not the model?

No problem. Send medium, pressure, temperature, size, connection standard and quantity. We can first check whether Check Valve is suitable.
